Galveston Career Connect (GCC) is a federal grant funded by the United States Department of Labor-Employment and Training Administration (DOL ETA). The grant provides funds that will be used to prepare students for their post- secondary lives, both academically and vocationally.

GCC students are focused into 6 pathways:

  • Emergency Medical Technician (EMT)

  • Patient Care Technician (PCT)

  • Engineering (with a focus on design)

  • Welding

  • Electrical & Instrumentation

  • IT / CISCO

GCC students will have the opportunity to earn between fifteen (15) and thirty-three (33) college hours through Galveston College. Additionally, all students will earn at least one industry-recognized certificate which makes them immediately employable.

GCC pays all costs associated with the work being done by our students. This includes everything from tuition to uniforms; from certification fees to travel costs.

GCC students will complete an internship of at least eight (80) hours, develop the “soft skills” needed to find and retain a job, complete a community service project of at least (10) hours, and receive career mentoring from a professional with experience in their pathway of study.

We believe that the Galveston Career Connect program will change the lives of our students and, eventually, impact the future of life on Galveston Island.

Help change the future for our kids…
